Welcome to our Career Dictionary!
I decided to cook up my own take on some career definitions and social media terms, both to inform and to amuse. (Some hopefully do both.)
More tasty career definitions & links will be added whenever I think of them. Meanwhile, have fun exploring! 🙂

Hi Scott!
Sorry about where you landed, but looks like a potential life raft has come your way. Hope so.
Your great job history makes it easy to move on so quickly. Most of us have had at least one clunker job or clunker boss along the way.
The trick is to stay positive and just say something like: I normally wouldn’t be looking so soon – as you can see from my other jobs – but your company – and to be honest you – seem like a much better fit; I’m hoping you’ll give me the chance to show you that. In your own words of course.
If he pursues it and asks whether you like where you are, let him know you do your best wherever you are and weren’t especially looking…but this is an opportunity of a lifetime. And then let him know why.
Spend more time painting the picture of who you are and what you can offer them, and as little as possible talking about where you are now.
I wish you much luck, Scott! Please let us know what happens.

I have been on a new job for 4 months and i have the manager from hell. I am in Pharmaceutical Sales and have always stayed on a job for no less than 8yrs but this is not a good situation with a major personality conflict issue.
I have an opportunity to interview with a really good company. My question is what to say when they bring up but you just started your new job ??
It is a really good company with allot of growth.
HELP !!!!!! And the Manager is very cool !!!

Great idea Ronnie, I’d love to help and working on this together sounds even better!
Will send you what I have by email.
All the best, Paul
P.S. I’m one of your biggest fans too but you knew that already 😉

Thanks so much Paul. You know I’m one of your biggest fans, career and otherwise.
I actually have “career” on my list of definitions I plan to add. Want to help? I mean why re-create the wheel if you have it already figured out. Of course I may add my 2 pence. 😉
Thanks again Paul. I value your support and friendship.

Hey Ronnie,
What a great resource this is! There are so many terms with so many meanings in the world of jobs & work. An informal, real-world dictionary/glossary is just the ticket, what a great idea. Chalk another one up to the cafe community 🙂
All the best,
Paul
P.S. If you’re accepting submissions I’d love to see an entry for the word ‘Career’. It’s an everyday word but defining it really helped me! Best, P.
